St John's Day

These are some photos of St John's Day which was on Sunday 24th June. Residents and co-workers from Camphill Milton Keynes went to Camphill Delrow which is another Camphill Community in Watford. There was eurythmy, singing and people from Camphill Milton Keynes performed some poetry. There was also a bonfire lit.

Residents Conference and opening of new shop

On Tuesday 19th and Wednesday 20th June 2012 residents of Camphill Milton Keynes had a conference in the Chrysalis Theatre which is part of Camphill Milton Keynes. There were such topics such as Speaking up for ourselves and others, Residents voice in the community, Sharing ideas and Advocacy. 
The conference was to allow residents to contribute in a meaningful way to the running of the community.
In the afternoon on Wednesday we finished off the conference with Julian Armstrong who has been living at Camphill  Milton Keynes the longest cutting the ribbon to the doors of the new shop in Camphill Milton Keynes. The shop sells things from the garden, and from the bakery, from the craft workshops in the community and some Weleder products.

Ceremony for the 32nd Anniversary of the Milton Keynes Peace Pagoda

The Milton Keynes Peace Pagoda was completed in 1980 at the northern edge of Willen lake in Willen, Milton Keynes. This was the first Peace Pagoda in the western world. There is a Nipponzan Myohoji Order temple and monastery nearby.
On Sunday 17th June 2012 there was a ceremony at the Peace Pagoda to celebrate it's 32nd year of being built. There were prayers, addresses and messages of peace. There were also multi-cultural events including a poem and acting from people from Camphill Milton Keynes.

Health Day


At Neath Hill (a day centre) in Pennyland there was a Health Day. This happened on Wednesday 30th May 2012. Health Day was for people with learning disabilities, and family/carers.  There were many different stalls there including Talkback, the St Johns Ambulance, and the Brook, Milton Keynes Wheel Chair Services, Audiology, and Top class which was about football. There was also an ambulance.  There were stalls doing health screening checks for things like high blood pressure and for dental hygiene. Many people from Camphill Milton Keynes went to visit Health Day.

Trip to Camphill St Albans

Camphill St. Albans is an integrated urban community providing support and a thriving social network for over 20 adults with learning disabilities and mental health problems in Hertfordshire. On Wednesday 13th June 2012 the newsletter group who work in Camphill Milton Keynes went to visit the Cafe and art and craft workshops run by residents and co-workers at Camphill St. Albans.

Diamond Jubilee of Elizabeth II

The Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II is a multinational celebration throughout 2012 marking the 60th anniversary of the accession of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom to the thrones of seven countries upon the death of her father, King George VI on 6 February 1952. She is today queen regent of 16 sovereign states, 12 of which were British colonies or Dominions at the start of her reign.
At Camphill Milton Keynes, we had a celebration lunch in the foyer of the Chrysalis Theater on Monday 4th June to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.

Farewell to Dominic Hunter

Farewell to Dominic Hunter who has been working at Camphill Milton Keynes since March 2011 as the Business Development and Quality Manager. Before he worked for Camphill Milton Keynes he worked in Social Care recruitment. He will now be working as the Development Manager for an autism service in Peterborough.
