‘Leesen very carefully, I weel say zis only wurnce . . .!’
On 17th September, the audience at the Chrysalis
theatre could take a trip to Café Rene in war-time France to witness the trials
and tribulations of France’s greatest, if unwilling hero, Rene Artois as he
tried to deal with the resistance, the Germans, a pair of British airmen and
the amorous advances of his serving girls.
Milton Keynes Theatre of Comedy’s production of the stage
show of ‘Allo ‘Allo’ in 2007 was a great success and for several years had been
keen to do more, but only one stage script existed.
All that changed, when David Pibworth (the director) was
given permission by one on the original writers, David Croft, to write a stage
play ‘sequel’.
