Hiroshima Day Lanterns - 72nd Anniversary Commemoration Ceremony

On August 6th, there was the 72nd Anniversary Commemoration Ceremony of Hiroshima Day.
There was a short ceremony in front of the Peace Pagoda, Willen Lake, Milton Keynes. This was in memory of the victims followed by the floating of candle lit lanterns on Willen Lake.
The ceremony was to reflect on the horrors of war in an atomic age and to let people pray for peace and harmony between all people and all nations.

Milton Keynes Disability Awareness Day

On Friday 14th July there was Milton Keynes Disability Awareness Day in Campbell Park in Milton Keynes.  The event started at 11am with a welcome from Councillor Martin Petchey the Deputy Mayor of Milton Keynes.
Then there was a demonstration from Camphill Fitness Group.
There were also speeches from Anna Turney the Paralympic Skier who represented Great Britain in 2010 and 2014 Winter Paralympics, Peter Kara the High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire, Maria Wogan the Chairwoman of Arts for Health MK and also a speech from Debbie Brock DL Chair for The Milton Keynes Cenotaph Trust and MKDAD.
At the end of this event people sung the MKDAD Anthem ‘I see you, you see me not my disability’.

Now you see me Art Exhibition

In celebration of Milton Keynes Disability Awareness Day 2017, an exhibition of works that showcase the talent of disabled artists from Milton Keynes and the surrounding areas was produced.
The exhibitions aim was to raise awareness, challenge perceptions and reduce stigma surrounding both physical and mental health. 
Disabled Artists from Milton Keynes and the surrounding areas were invited to submit work to be considered for the show. Submissions were selected by an art panel, judges included practising artists Keith Jansz, Caroline Cardus and Anna Berry as well as Anthony Spira, Director at MK Gallery. As Milton Keynes celebrated its 50th birthday, 50 works were exhibited in the show.
Residents of Camphill Milton Keynes submitted pieces of artwork.
The Now You See Me exhibition ran from Wednesday 21st June –Saturday 15th July 2017 in Centre MK.

Community Assembly

These are some photographs of residents and co-workers having a Community Assembly at the Chrysalis Theatre in Camphill Milton Keynes. They are held every second Tuesday of the month. We have Community Assemblies so we can discuss any matters concerning things that happen in the community.
