Parents Meeting Barbecue

Every three month there is a Parents meeting held in the crypt next to the Chrysalis Theatre in Camphill Milton Keynes. Parents whose children live in the community can go to this to discuss what goes on in Camphill Milton Keynes and how their children are getting on. For the parents meeting held on Saturday 4th July we all had a barbecue on the grass area on the Camphill grounds after the parents meeting had finished. We could have sausages, burgers, salad, vegetarian food and drinks. I don’t think as many parents that usually go to the parents meeting went on this day although it was still good for having a barbecue.

Fairway to Heaven

On Thursday 2nd and Friday 3rd July there was a play performed in the Chrysalis Theatre called Fairway to Heaven. This is what the play was about: Trevor’s life is at an all-time low, his marriage is on the rocks and he is at risk of losing his job unless he sells a property. Things are looking up when his best friend Bob finds him a potential buyer but it comes with a catch. . . When Trevor breaks a priceless artefact belonging to his wife he ropes Bob into covering his tracks by staging a burglary at his own home. The only trouble is that on the same night the house is the target of real burglars AND his mother-in-law is staging a murder mystery with a few of her elderly friends. Throw in a policewoman kissogram, just how much chaos can ensue from Trevor’s determination not to take the blame?
This play was performed by Tread the Boards (TTB) which was founded in Newport Pagnell, Bucks, in 1986 and was written by somebody called Diana Raffle.

Trip to Houses of Parliament

On Monday 29th June, a group of residents and co-workers from Camphill Milton Keynes went on a trip to London to visit the Houses of Parliament. Parliament examines what the Government is doing, makes new laws, holds the power to set taxes and debates the issues of the day. The House of Commons and House of Lords each play an important role in Parliament's work.
The Houses of Parliament are otherwise known as the Palace of Westminster, and symbolises Great Britain. We also had a nice picnic for lunch.

St John's Day

On Tuesday 23rd June, residents and co-workers in Camphill Milton Keynes celebrated St John’s Day. The celebration of St John was from ancient times a festival of the summer solstice. For this celebration, residents and co-workers in Camphill Milton Keynes got into groups according to the month of our birthday. People from each month of the year did a dance around each other month in a circle with a long candle, and then used the candle to help light a fire in the middle of the circle.
Afterwards we all had strawberries and cream in the foyer if the Chrysalis Theatre.
