Stranger Danger

These are some photographs of residents from Camphill Milton Keynes rehearsing a play called 'Stranger Danger' in the Chrysalis Theatre which is based on the Three Little Pigs.
The Three Little Pigs is a fable about three pigs who build three houses of different materials. A big bad wolf blows down the first two pigs' houses, made of straw and sticks respectively, but is unable to destroy the third pig's house, made of bricks.
Stranger danger is the idea or warning that all strangers can potentially be dangerous to children and adults.
This play is going to be performed to help the co-workers make sure that the residents are safe.

Health and Safety training

These are some photographs of residents from Camphill Milton taking part in a Health and Safety course at the Chrysalis theatre on Tuesday 13th March.
The session covered moving and handling,  well-being through diet and exercise, and fire safety. Residents were actively involved by either joining the discussions, demonstration in person or taking part in a short exercise. Packed with newly found knowledge and tips, Residents proudly received their certificates in the end.

Women of Camphill

On 8th March, it was International Women's Day. It is a focal point in the movement of Women's rights.
After the Socialist Party of America organised a Women's Day on February 28, 1909 in New York the 1910 International Socialist Women's Conference  suggested a Women's Day be held annually. After women gained suffrage in Soviet Russia in 1917, March 8 became a national holiday there. The day was then predominantly celebrated by the socialist movement and communist countries until it was adopted in 1975 by the United Nations.
Many of the women in Camphill Milton Keynes were interviewed for our newsletter and also for the Camphill Milton Keynes Facebook page about their role in the community.

A Midsummer's Night Dream

On Tuesday 13th March, the theater group that works at the Chrysalis Theater in Camphill Milton Keynes performed parts of A Midsummer's Night Dream as part of the communities monthly assemblies.
This was a fun yet classical version of Midsummer’s Night Dream with a twist, exploring Shakespearean language. The piece was written in verse to help with learning lines, improving memory, using gestures to represent words, exploring accents, movement and body memory which allowed speaking whole sentences in gestures.

Valentine's Day Party

Here are some photos of a Valentine's Party that resident's and co-worker's had at the Chrysalis Theater in Camphill Milton Keynes on Tuesday 27th February 2018.

St. Valentine's Day began as a liturgical celebration of one or more early Christian saints named Valentinus. The most popular martyrology associated with Saint Valentine was that he was imprisoned for performing weddings for soldiers who were forbidden to marry and for ministering to Christians, who were persecuted under the Roman Empire.

Pancake Day

On Tuesday 13th February, residents and co-workers from Camphill Milton Keynes celebrated Shrove Tuesday (or Pancake Day). The expression "Shrove Tuesday" comes from the word shrive, meaning "confess"  so people can make a special point of considering what wrongs they need to confess.

To celebrate this day, we held a pancake race. Each participant had to carry a pancake in a frying pan, and while running had to toss their pancakes and catch them in the frying pan.  There were several races done until there was a race with all the best runners.
