Fire Safety training

On Tuesday 13th November, residents of Camphill Milton Keynes did Fire Safety training at the Chrysalis Theatre.
Fire safety is the set of practices intended to reduce the destruction caused by fire. Fire safety measures include those that are intended to prevent ignition of an uncontrolled fire, and those that are used to limit the development and effects of a fire after it starts.
Fire safety measures include those that are planned during the construction of a building or implemented in structures that are already standing, and those that are taught to occupants of the building.
Fire safety is often a component of building safety. Those who inspect buildings for violations of the Fire Code and go into schools to educate children on Fire Safety topics are fire department members known as Fire Prevention Officers. The Chief Fire Prevention Officer or Chief of Fire Prevention will normally train newcomers to the Fire Prevention Division and may also conduct inspections or make presentations.

Craft Fayre

On Saturday 10th November, there was a Winter Artisan Food and Craft Fayre at the Chrysalis Theatre in Camphill Milton Keynes. It was from 10 am until 4 pm.
There were over 30 local stallholders including the Camphill artisan Bakery, preserves, honey, arts and crafts, Handmade crafts, gifts and food and beverages.
Over £4000 was raised.

Halloween

On Thursday 1st November, residents of Camphill Milton Keynes celebrated a Halloween Party. 

The modern-day idea of Halloween as we know it obviously was not always what the celebration was like or about originally. The origin of Halloween can be traced back to the ancient Celts who ruled over Ireland, Britain and Northern France before being conquered by the Romans. The Celts were pagans and the beginning of November marks the festival Samhain for the Celts. Samhain – which is November in Irish, pronounced sow-in – was the festival that marked the end of summer and the harvest season. Halloween has its roots in the pagan traditions of the Celts, on Samhain they believed that this night marked the night that the door between this world and the next was open and spirits could pass through, distinctions between the living and the dead became blurred.

Manual Handling Course

On Tuesday 9th October, residents of Camphill Milton Keynes took part in a Manual Handling Course at the Chrysalis Theatre in Camphill Milton Keynes. We learnt about how to report health and safety issues, hazardous substances, accidents and falls, identifying first aiders and handling when lifting and carrying loads.

Harvest Meal

On Tuesday 11th September Camphill Milton Keynes held a Harvest and Michaelmas Celebration at the Chrysalis Theatre in Camphill Milton Keynes. People in the community had a shared lunch. We had soup and bread. A song was sung before we started.

After the lunch finished we sung some more songs and the theatre group performed a scene from a project they are doing about the three little pigs and the big bad wolf which is all about stranger danger.
