Desert Island Movie Night

The Chrysalis Theatre in Camphill Milton Keynes held a Desert Island Movie Night on Thursday 26th September. A different special guest will be invited each night to chat to the audience about their top 5 movies that they would take with them if they were stranded on a desert island. The guest also decided which one of the movies will be shown.
For this night the special guest was Clarke Carlisle, an English former footballer who played as a defender and is the current chairman of the Professional Footballers' Association. Born in Preston, he began playing football at a young age, taking inspiration from his father who played semi-professionally.
Thanks to his Chairmanship of the PFA, appearances on BBC’s Question Time and an acclaimed documentary on racism in football, and the most recent Footballs Suicide Secret, Clarke Carlisle is renowned as one of the most eloquent and thoughtful sportsmen of today. There  was also a book signing session because he wrote a book called 'You Don't Know Me, But... A Footballer's Life'.

This night's film was 'Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy'.

'Allo 'Allo 2 - The Camembert Caper

‘Leesen very carefully, I weel say zis only wurnce . . .!’
On 17th September, the audience at the Chrysalis theatre could take a trip to CafĂ© Rene in war-time France to witness the trials and tribulations of France’s greatest, if unwilling hero, Rene Artois as he tried to deal with the resistance, the Germans, a pair of British airmen and the amorous advances of his serving girls.
Milton Keynes Theatre of Comedy’s production of the stage show of ‘Allo ‘Allo’ in 2007 was a great success and for several years had been keen to do more, but only one stage script existed.
All that changed, when David Pibworth (the director) was given permission by one on the original writers, David Croft, to write a stage play ‘sequel’.
The cast of this production were: Rene Artois - David Lovesy, Edith - Sue Whyte, Yvette - Melanie Best, Mimi - Michelle Johnson, Michelle of the Resistance - Vicky Amies, Monsieur Alphonse the Undertaker - Gary Martindale, Monsieur Leclerc - Jon Davies, Madame Fanny - Erika Benning, Colonel Von Strohm - Richard Duncombe, Lt. Gruber - Chris Tennant, Capt. Geering - Alex Taylor, Herr Flick - Sean McDermott, Helga - Tracy Butler, General Von Klinkerhoffen - Matt Perris, Officer Crabtree - Steve Clark, British Airmen - Keith Lennox and Neil Harrison, Assorted French villagers and Germans - Roger Widdecombe, Jen Barber, Emma Dell, Matt Bayfield, Sandra Cowling, John Hopkins.

Camphill Good Food Book and the Nutrition Conference

Camphill Milton Keynes now has a specially made cook book to be used in the kitchens of the houses were residents and co-workers live. It is called ‘Camphill Milton Keynes Community Good Food’. The residents of Appleyard House chose the name of the cookbook. Lots of people were involved in producing it and they formed a working group who had meeting which were monthly and they lasted for a couple of hours. During these working group meetings there were discussions like about what recipes would be healthy. Some of the recipes came from people who worked or live in Camphill Milton Keynes while others came from the Grub4Life team who helped us to produce the cookbook. The people involved in helping to produce the cookbook were me, Asuncion Bacos, Csilla Leszl, Damian Zibu, Dominic Grant, Elaine Bradley, Jeremy Cooper, Julia Funge, Maria Matthaei-Hanak, Morgan Work, Shirley Owens, Thomas Craven and the Grub4Life Team. Grub4Life is a nutrition bases organisation which puts the application of good nutrition into practise across a wide spectrum of business areas. The Camphill Good Food Book has recipes, menu planning, example Eating Plans, Self Service Meals, Nutrition resources, Cooking Tips and Food Health and Safety. The idea of a cookbook came about because a lot of people have put on a lot of weight, so a cookbook could show people what is healthy.
On Tuesday the 3rd of September, there was the Nutrition Conference and the launch of the Camphill Good Food Book. People who spoke at the conference were Shirley Owens who is a Camphill Manager and Nigel Denby who works for Grub4Life. There was a slide show which told people about healthy choices. We learnt about how we could cut down on fat, sugar and salt and that we need fibre. We received copies of the Camphill Good Food book and during the tea-break we had delicious and healthy snacks. It was suggested that a walking group starts twice a week and that people could walk around one of the lakes near Camphill Milton Keynes.
